Happy Starfish Saturday Merbaes! I know it’s been a while.
I have been actively planning my trip to Miami on Monday, and by actively planning, I mean buying ridiculously cute accessories and clothes that would be perfect to shoot and strut in while there, soaking up the sun! (Us Canadian mermaids don’t get much of that).
Margarita Mermaid has been on my mind for quite some time now, plus she’s been all over my Instagram feed for the past few months (Thanks for the reminder, Instagram :p) . This designer creates adult mermaid attire that will make your inner child squee of happiness.
My only frustration with purchasing was that anytime a style i’d want would get restocked or released on the website, my size would be gone in a matter of minutes (figures!).
Luckily, I was able to snatch a mix and match pair of high waisted mermaid bottoms and a seashell inspired bikini. Of course, they are both blue/teal, my signature colours!
I can’t wait to share the photos of me wearing it on the beach! But for the time being, check out her amazing newest collection “Castaway Siren”
This sunday is quite the exciting day indeed. The popular mermaid school from Montreal Aquasirene is now opening it’s new location in Toronto on Queen St!
As an employee for their new division, I thought I would share the news since it’s a unique event and opportunity to not only get in shape by swimming in a monofin, but also fulfilling your dreams of becoming a mermaid for a day (maybe longer if you take a tail home :P)
We all know how expensive silicone, latex, even fabric tails can cost online, so it’s a great place to start and get used to the idea of swimming in a tail before you make the commitment of going custom.
Personally, as someone that’s swam in both fabric tails and silicone, I can tell you that you want..nay, NEED to start off with a lighter material in the beginning, especially if you are not a trained swimmer. Silicone in itself is extremely heavy, and then you have the additional weight of the monofin. At least with the fabric tails the weight is only felt around and on the feet.
Here’s some more super adorable photos of merbaes at the Montreal academy:
So if you’re in Toronto make sure you check out the new mermaid school at the Jimmie Simpson Pool 😉 XOX
